Girard-Perreguax Chronographe a Rattrapante Foudroyante Yellow Gold Ref. 9020
Girard-Perregaux Chronographe à Rattrapante “Foudroyante” – Scuderia Ferrari 70th Anniversary – Ref. 9020 – 18K Yellow Gold – No. 22/250
Created in 1999 to celebrate 70 years of Scuderia Ferrari (1929–1999), this limited edition from Girard-Perregaux is one of the most technically impressive racing chronographs of its era. Only 250 pieces were made in 18k yellow gold, and this is number 22.
It combines two rare chronograph complications:
Rattrapante (split-seconds): two central chronograph hands let you time two events at once, such as two cars crossing the line. The split function is operated through a pusher built into the crown.
Foudroyante (“lightning” seconds): the red hand in the subdial at 9 o’clock spins once per second, measuring time to 1/8 of a second.
The cream dial has applied gold Arabic numerals, faceted triangular markers, gold leaf hands, blued chronograph hands, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a tachymeter scale, and the iconic red “SF” Scuderia Ferrari emblem. The 40mm solid 18k yellow gold case is closed by a 7-screw gold case back engraved with the Ferrari prancing horse shield, “Scuderia Ferrari 1929–1999,” “Chronographe à rattrapante ‘Foudroyante’,” the reference, and the limited edition number.
